Hopes and Beams is a multi-award-winning charity based in Crewe, Cheshire. Previously known as 'the Cheshire Academy of Integrated Sports and Arts' we were founded in March 1993 with the purpose of providing inclusive sporting and social opportunities for people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities.
we have earned an international reputation as a leading provider of sports training for people with disabilities. Many of our athletes have achieved major titles regionally, nationally and internationally at a myriad of esteemed competitions such as the World Special Olympic Games.
however, our organisation is much more than that. We understand that families with disabled children are often under a great amount of stress. Hopes and Beams can assist families by helping them look beyond what a child or young person can do and to see their real potential for progress. One of the central pillars of Hopes and Beams is its provision of a child development department which teaches social, behavioural and educational skills and is learning based.
the charity has also expanded its work with older people by providing a range of activities, including those that are Alzheimer’s and dementia friendly, as part of our combating loneliness in the community initiative called ‘golden Memories’. We also run a very well-established community restaurant called Poppy's Restaurant & Café which focuses on home cooked meals especially geared for older people.
our staff and volunteers have great expertise and experience in working with children, young adults and elderly people with a wide variety of needs. We are happy to discuss a person’s needs so that they can be provided with the best support necessary when using our services.
